Our History
08/18/2011Built in 1928 by Lyon's Diocese, the Domaine Saint Joseph was a seminary used for training young priest. With its 5ha and 8000 square meter and a beautiful view over the Mont du Lyonnais hills, it was the perfect place for philosophy education.
The 70's see the decrease of priestly calling and forces the Diocese to modify its organization by transfering St Joseph's religious instruction and seminarist to St Irénée's Seminary (the yellow stone building next to us). New goal is set: for more than 35 years, the Domaine Saint Joseph welcomes spiritual retreat, christian's movement meetings, and also professional and union training.
In 2006, the Domaine Saint Joseph close for a full remodeling. Its reopening enabled us to improve our services and equipment in a personalized and welcoming atmosphere. Our business is now 50% corporate and 50% association, confessional or general public.
